Genius Hour 1.8!

Welcome back to the final week of blogs for Genius Hour! This project has been so much fun so far, and I am planning to continue doing beading even after this genius hour is done. This week I made variety of necklaces for Harley Meged to take with her to the NFR! I have made the necklaces called "THE HARLEY" throughout this week, and they are all ready to go to Texas and hang with the big dogs. This week was yet again fairly easy because I have been getting quicker with making the necklaces which each only took me about 15-20 minutes. My only struggle was I dropped some beads on the ground which has been a common struggle, but my mom doesn't know this time;) I did not have to make any necklace holders for when I send them to customers because I have not had any recent orders... Everything takes time to grow especially a small business that is very simple, but I'm just glad to be doing something I enjoy for my friends. My action plan is still up to date thus far so I...

Welcome back to yet another genius hour! This week I made a necklace for Ilyssa Avitabile again. She did one like I've previously made for Harley Meged, but with a different main color. This necklace was very easy for me to make which only took about 15 minutes overall. My action plan is still going well, which was making a brand name that I came up with last week. I also was supposed to have a jewelry ladder to keep the jewelry on and to model, but I'm not sure if I want to spend money on it as I've already spent a lot on this project. Also with making a sale last week to the girl in Ekalaka, she got it and said she's very pleased with it! I'm glad to hear about this and hopefully sell more in the future. I will be making 5 necklaces for Harley Meged once she goes to the NFR in Texas! Hopefully people will notice the necklaces she wears:) Thank you for reading and hopefully I'll have another easy successful week next week. See you then:)  Next week I'll be...

Hello! Welcome back to week 6 of Genius Hour:) This week I expanded my horizons and made a necklace different than any other I've made before! I made a white necklace with little turquoise circles and light blue beads to blend around it. This one was sort of challenging because I had to remember to put the blue pieces in front and behind the turquoise circles. The picture does not do it justice and I'd say it looks pretty darn good. My action plan has switched up a little bit because at the time I wasn´t quite sure of what types of jewelry I would be making. Oh, guess what! I made an Instagram page and someone from Ekalaka bought one! My Instagram pages username is 3_bar_co so if you get the chance go follow it:) Making this page can be a big step in the right direction for my jewelry making business, and I´m excited to see where it takes me. I hope to be able to keep getting better and have more people realize my amount of work ethic, and determination for my project to be a s...

Genius Hour 1.5

Wow, week 5 of genius hour went really well! Welcome back to my genius hour. This week I made a necklace for Harley Meged, an all black necklace with a cactus charm/pendant in the middle! I really liked making this one, and it was probably the easiest one I've made so far. This project took me about 15-20 minutes I'd say which is very fast. The only little whoops I had on it was getting the pendant centered so it would lay right once the necklace is being worn. I have been going along with my action plan as I should be which was adding a new charm to my necklaces, which indeed was the cactus. I was nervous the charms and beads I ordered would not get here in time, and my action plan would go all out of wack. I am even a little bit ahead of my action plan because I've put pendants on my necklaces before, yippee! This about all that happened this week and I'm very excited to see what is ahead for me and making this jewelry! Next week I'll be making a sort of pattern ...

Hello, and welcome back to the fourth week of Genius Hour! This week I made a variety of lengths of necklaces. I made a choker for Ilyssa Avitabile, and a regular length necklace which I believe was between 16-18"for Kiala Hirsch. This allows me to still be going along with my action plan how I should be. I actually didn't have any problems this week, so I'd say it went pretty darn smooth. Ilyssa had a 4 bead pattern with maroon, white, silver, and one black bead in between (pictured below). Kiala also had a 4 bead pattern with light pink, violet, and blue (also pictured below). With the progress I'm making hopefully I will be able to sell my jewelry very soon! I haven't gotten any criticism on my jewelry so I have no idea what needs and doesn't need to be fixed. With my action plan being caught up this far I'm very pleased and hopefully that will lead to many more accomplishments.  Next week I will be making jewelry with pendants on them in order to stay ...

Hello, and welcome back to the third week of Genius Hour! My action plan is still going accordingly, and I'm very happy about it. This week I made Rachel Kelly a set of jewelry including a necklace, earrings, and a bracelet/anklet. She had a 4 bead pattern with a star pendant in the middle for a little something extra (pictured below). This one was really fun to make except on one of the earrings I dropped the wire and all the beads fell on our floor. My mother was not very happy about that one, but overall that task of making the set took about an hour or more. It helps to make the wire longer than you need because you never want to be short and that's what I experienced with the earrings. Well, that is it for this weeks genius hour, see you again next week!   Last week when I made Skyler that necklace she had told me that the ring and clasp had broke off which should be an easy fix. This had been my first mishap with the necklaces, and it probably won't be the last, b...

Welcome back to another blog this week! My action plan is still going accordingly by picking out patterns, and of course making the jewelry:) However, I've found that my clasps aren't working very well. I have been using lobster clasps, and I think that I need to switch to twisting clasps. The lobster clasps are nice and all, but trying to hook them onto the rings on the other end is a challenge and gets easily stuck. This is because once I bend the ring so it doesn't fall apart the part bent together gets stuck. This causes it to be difficult to latch the necklace. Anyways, I had a really fun time making Skyler a necklace (picture below). The pattern was really nice, and gives me a good combination of what colors can really look good together. Hopefully she will give me feedback, and let me know what I can do to improve my jewelry making skills. That was about it for this weeks genius hour and blog, see you next week!  Next week I plan on making a full set of jewelry! ex. ...
